SAF Bangladesh partners with BNNC to tackle nutritional issues

Today, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) between Sustainable Agriculture Foundation Bangladesh (SAF Bangladesh) and the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNNC) marked a significant step towards addressing national nutrition goals.

This collaborative effort aims to leverage the strengths of both organisations to create impactful changes in the country’s nutritional landscape.
The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of key representatives from both organisations: Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Director General of BNNC, and Md. Farhad Zamil, Executive Director of SAF Bangladesh, officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (Mou), marking a commitment to joint action.

Md Moshfequel Alam, Project Manager, and Dr. Mortahina Rashid, Technical Specialist in nutrition, representing the NICE project, were also present at this auspicious event. Akhter Imam, Deputy Director of BNNC, also attended the ceremony. Dr. Nusrat Jahan, Deputy Director of BNNC, skillfully moderated the event, fostering a spirit of collaboration and shared vision.
The signing ceremony was followed by fruitful discussions between the representatives, focusing on future projections and potential areas of collaboration. Both SAF Bangladesh and BNNC have a strong track record of working in nutrition-related fields, and this agreement signifies a powerful synergy to amplify their impact.

A key highlight of the discussion was the timely nature of this collaboration, particularly in light of Bangladesh’s recent exploration of the Multisectoral Urban Nutrition Strategy. This MOU paves the way for joint initiatives where both organisations can effectively contribute their expertise and resources to implement this national strategy.

Specifically, the NICE project is poised to play a crucial role in this partnership, offering opportunities for collaboration with BNNC in various areas of expertise. This includes sharing resources and knowledge in health, nutrition, education, water, and sanitation, all while working towards the shared goals of both organisations.

This move signifies a powerful alliance in the fight against malnutrition in Bangladesh, promising a more coordinated and practical approach to achieving national nutrition targets at the impact level.
